Launch of Policing the Open Road: How Cars Transformed American Freedom
Join the Center for Constitutional Governance and the Center for Contemporary Critical Thought as well as Law School faculty Jeff Fagan, Bernard E. Harcourt, Olati Johnson, Buffie Scott, and Dan Richman for a book launch and discussion of Sarah A. Seo’s 2019 publication Policing the Open Road: How Cars Transformed American Freedom.
This book launch will give insight into this upcoming publication and include a panel with Dirk Hartog (Princeton University), Tracy Meares (Yale University), and Maeve Glass (Columbia Law School).
Sarah Seo’s new book examines how the rise of the car, the symbol of American personal freedom, inadvertently led to ever more intrusive policing—with disastrous consequences for racial equality in our criminal justice system.
The launch will take place in Columbia Law School, Jerome Greene Annex from 12-1:30 on monday May 6, 2019.
